How do I know if I have psychic abilities?
I remember years ago thinking that only certain people could be psychic. That it was some supernatural phenomenon gifted to the select few that were special enough to be born with psychic abilities. And yet, after learning of my own psychic connection, as I looked back over my life, I discovered that they’d been there all along - and that every single person has psychic abilities.
Psychic abilities usually go unnoticed
The thing about psychic abilities is that they aren’t always this obvious thing we’re expecting to see. Most people associate psychic gifts with clairvoyance - the ability to see - but the visions you’re expecting are actually just like the images you see in your imagination.
How about that gut knowing? Those times in your life where you just knew something even though you couldn’t explain it or put your finger on why? That’s your psychic connection and your gift of claircognizance - a psychic knowing. I find this most often shows up for us when we have a keen sense of someone we’ve just met without really knowing why. It’s extra hard to trust it when everyone else thinks someone is amazing but you just know they aren’t without any explanation.
If you’ve ever been around someone who’s in an extra lousy mood (or even extra excited) and it’s almost like it rubs off on you. Suddenly, your mood picks up or crashes, and you don’t understand why. This is another way your psychic abilities go unnoticed because it’s your gift of clairsentience that’s tapping you into the energetic feelings and emotions of another.
Your intuition is your psychic channel
One of the biggest gaps I’ve seen over the years is the lack of understanding that your intuition is your psychic connection. Somewhere along the line, the term psychic became taboo and intuition became safe.
I think people generally tend to think of psychic abilities as either something magical you’re born with or something you get or acquire - something outside of yourself. But the truth is, your psychic abilities are your connection to your Higher Self, your soul, and we’ve always had them. We just call them something else: our intuition.
Think about the things you’ve just known, the feelings you’ve had about someone else’s mood or what’s bothering them, the things you’ve imagined and then they’ve come true…you’ve likely called these things your intuition.
They’re your intuition and your psychic abilities.
Learn to trust your psychic abilities
The biggest struggle students have when trying to hone their psychic gifts is that they find it difficult to understand the difference between their intuition (their psychic channel) and their brain.
It can feel hard when you’re imagining something but you don’t know whether it’s coming from your mind or a psychic vision.
You can easily mistake a psychic message for a thought in your head and wander down the wrong path because you didn’t know the difference.
You can get stuck sifting through emotions and energy that isn’t yours, but you don’t even realize it because you’ve picked it up from someone else without knowing it.
All of these things make it difficult to understand when it’s your brain and when it’s your connection, and they can make it feel impossible to truly trust your psychic connection.
